Rose Coloured News

Welcome to the Machine

Hey Kids!

Note: I was digging through my archives looking for lost links. I didn’t even remember that I used to put these emails out every two or three days. I’m going to reprint a couple of them here. These are from January and February of 2012:

Halliburton has been building prisons all over the country for over eight years now. These prisons are under the jurisdiction of Homeland Insecurity rather than the Bureau of Prisons, which means that all of these shiny new prisons are not being built for criminals. It would be interesting to know for whom they are being built. As loathsome as he was at least with Bush what you saw was what you got. In a way I respect Republicans more because they tend to be a little more honest about the fact they work for the Machine. Imagine if Bush had tried to execute Americans without a trial? Can you hear the privileged white liberals howling? Bush could never have gotten away with any of this! Bush was an idiot whilst Obama is a genius but that is one of many reasons that Obama is more dangerous. This is the real secret, though: Obama gets away with all of this because everyone is so afraid of Republicans. It never seems to occur to anyone that this is exactly what Republicans are for.

No election is going to fix this. We need to do it ourselves.

We have a formidable foe in Obama.

The very scariest thing about Obama is that so many otherwise intelligent people who know the score are still backing him because they are scared shitless of the Republicans. Wow. I have not voted for a Democrat for president since 1976 and I’ve never voted for a Republican. I even foreswore Carter in 80 because he sold out. (Probably the best ex-president we’ve ever had though…) People say that I throw my vote away. I say that voting for a lying corporate fascist is throwing your vote away. I can — and I very often do — make what I feel are numerous irrefutable arguments that the Democrats are even worse than the Republicans in many ways. However: Evidently many feel that vastly expanding military funding while slashing or freezing funding for everything else so unmanned drones can mass-murder women and children whilst executing Americans without a trial whilst installing police states whilst prosecuting whistleblowers whilst richly rewarding the criminals that are having the whistle blown upon them whilst evicting desperately poor mothers and throwing their children out onto the streets whilst stealing the pension funds and life savings and everything that the honest have worked for all their lives whilst insanely prodigiously rewarding the thieves who stole everything from the honest people — outrage after outrageous outrage and on and on and on at an ever growing exponential rate — yet evidently many feel that all of this is at least acceptable as long as it is a Democrat who is doing it.

I’m sorry but I do not find it acceptable.

Here is a fairly comprehensive list of Obama’s ‘accomplishments’:

You can also learn a lot about a politician just by looking at who gives him/her money. Here is a list of Obama’s ‘contributors’ in 2008:

As for the Republicans, here is a list of Romney’s ‘contributors’ in 2012:

Gee! Look at that! The same people are financing both sides! And they also happen to be the very same people who also just got away with not only pulling off the biggest criminal fraud in human history without going to jail but who then managed to make the victims pay for their crimes even as they continued with their looting unabated!

Wow! What a coincidence!

Go to They Rule.Net to track the myriad incestuous interrelationships between the actually rather small number of people who ‘own’ our world. Follow the links between Big War Profiteers Big Media Big Oil Big Ag Big Chemical Big Pharma Big Bank etc. Then go to Open Secrets and see who is buying your government. They are ALL in bed with each other and they are systemically destroying your world. They have become a deadly parasite that is consuming its host.

The only way they can get away with this is to lie. Why else would someone risk their lives/sanity/health murdering Third World women and children so that some sociopaths on Wall Street can get rich? They have to believe something. The Machine has been ardently experimenting with controlling what people think for a long time. They expend prodigious effort into instilling blind patriotism. It has been proven that we entered both Viet Nam and Iraq based upon lies. We later learned that almost everything they were telling us about both those ‘wars’ were lies. Remember the WMD’s? Remember Jessica Lynch? How about Pat Tillman? Most of what they tell us about nearly everything is later proven to be lies! Why should anyone believe a single word that any of these assholes say? Their lies are so transparently ridiculous that they would seem like comedic self-parody except for the fact that so many people believe them! Their word is not only taken as holy writ but those who do know what is really happening are ignored and/or ridiculed and/or discredited and/or killed. This seems to me a serious problem.

The Machine now claims that it must install a police state and trash the Constitution in order to protect us from ‘terrorists’. They killed several thousand Americans and hundreds of thousands of Third World women and children in order to protect us from ‘terrorists’. They spent trillions completely destroying the infrastructure of an advanced and developed country and creating millions of civilian refugees in order to protect us from ‘terrorists’.

Gee. I feel so safe now.

I wonder how many people know that between the years 2000 and 2009 Americans were literally more likely to be struck by lightning than they were to be killed by a ‘terrorist’?

OK, that’s not really fair; that is apples to oranges comparing a natural disaster with human acts. Ok, how about this: They are installing a police state and trashing the Constitution to protect us from ‘terrorists’ even though you are 750 times more likely to be accidently killed by your own doctor than you are to be killed by a ‘terrorist’.

Gee! Do we need a ‘War on Doctors’?

How about this: They are installing a police state and trashing the Constitution even though you are literally more likely to be killed by frigging peanuts!

Wait a minute! Jimmy Carter was a peanut farmer! Good Lord! Who’d a thunk that that grandfatherly old fart was the secret mastermind of a vast conspiracy to unleash a deadly plague of lethal peanuts upon us in order to destroy our civilization whilst simultaneously distracting us with the illusionary chimera of ‘terrorism’! Oh! The diabolical genius!

Jeez! If we can’t trust frigging Jimmy Carter then who can we trust?

However, bear up, Kids! We face yet other dangers that are even more disturbing than conspiring peanut farmers!

For instance, consider the threat that we pose to ourselves: You are 1,600 times more likely to die from smoking related causes than you are to be killed by a terrorist. You are 60 times more likely to commit suicide.

Hey! How about a ‘War on YOU’?

And watch out for your fellow countrymen! Americans are singularly violent folks. You are 55 times more likely to be murdered by an American than you are by a ‘terrorist’. You are 39 times more likely to be killed by a drunk driver.

These numbers, you might notice, are easy to find. Why do otherwise intelligent people believe all of this ‘terrorist’ bull-pucky?

This is a problem. Any suggestions?

I have a couple to start with: Quit believing their lies and quit supporting frigging Democrats!

On a related note, single payer health care has passed through the California legislature twice now only to be vetoed by then-governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

However, now Democrat Jerry Brown is governor! Now the Democrats have the governor’s mansion and massive majorities in both houses of the legislature! They can finally pass single-payer!

Now that they can’t count on a Republican governor vetoing the bill the Democrats voted single payer down. All of a sudden four Democratic senators refused vote for single payer. They didn’t even have the courage to vote against it; they simply abstained. That means that they were present for the vote but refusing to commit one way or another. At least three of these abstainers had voted for it the last time.

The PEN [get on their mailing list here] put the situation very nicely:

Here’s what the sponsor of the [California Single Payer] Bill, Mark Leno, said on the Thom Hartmann show when gently challenged on why previous supporters were now abstaining: “Arnold Schwarzenegger was always going to veto the bill, so if one had an interest in not ruffling the feathers of the insurance industry, the possibility is to vote for it with the wink of the eye that it’s not going anywhere anyway.”

In Greek mythology, Tantalus as his eternal punishment was cursed to stand in a pool of water underneath a fruit tree with low hanging branches always just out of reach, with the water always receding before he could take a drink. THAT is the very image of what the Democratic Party has become for the interests of the people who consider themselves constituents. It’s all a scam, folks, just one great, big, giant, honking scam.

The so-called good guys are in on it. Mark Leno KNOWS [that SB 710] will never pass, that the vote will always be manipulated so it falls just short in some way. The only reason for him to bring the bill up at all is to CON his own constituents into thinking he’s on their side, [emphasis added] otherwise he would be vociferously calling out these abstainer traitors, not accidentally spilling the beans as he did. It’s nothing but a cynical PR stunt and they are ALL in on it. No matter how many Democrats we vote for, till the end of all eternity, they will always find some way to fail to pass single payer health care.

Yes, if anyone still needs it, here is yet more evidence that the Democrats do not work for us. They exist to fool us into thinking that we have a political party that is representing our interests so that we won’t go into open revolt.

Through the Discount Looking Glass Yet Again!

The recent plunge in oil prices points out yet another instance wherein reality is the complete polar opposite of what everyone thinks that it is. In this case everyone considers oil to be a precious commodity that is to be preserved conserved and hoarded.

Actually, the biggest problem facing oil producers — from the very first oil boom in Pennsylvania in the 1870’s right to the present — is overproduction, not scarcity. The ‘scarcity’ myth has been intentionally instilled in order to manipulate prices.

For instance: In August of 1931, overproduction so threatened to destroy Texas’ oil industry that Texas governor Sterling declared that a “state of insurrection” existed and he declared martial law. He ordered 1100 soldiers of the Texas National Guard into the east Texas oilfields and placed the area under military rule. By noon the next day, all production in east Texas was temporarily shut down.

What is happening now is that the Saudi’s and their allies are flooding the market with cheap oil in order to put the frackers and the shalers out of business — and it’s probably going to work. This is mixed news as while gas is very cheap it needs to be real expensive if people are going to quit using it and the victory against the frackers and the shalers is being won by what I call the ‘Rockefeller Faction’ (even though I’m not sure how much influence the actual Rockefeller family wields in those circles these days) and the Rockefeller/ Saudi faction is just as bad as the Bush/ fracker/ shaler faction, so its heads they win and tails we lose in those kinds of battles.

Rose Coloured News

It seems that anytime anyone bombs anything inside the United States it is front-page blaring headline news. Reporters on the Media Machine breathlessly report on the details and endlessly talk about the perpetrators and their motivations and connections.

Do you remember a couple of years ago when an unexploded bomb was found on the parade route for the upcoming Martin Luther King Day Parade in Spokane? The bomb was found before it went off and it was successfully disarmed.

No one was hurt — yet in spite of that fact the incident was still all over the national news for a couple of days.

Tell me this: How many of you know that the NAACP office in Colorado Springs was bombed last Tuesday?

If you depend upon the corporate media for your news then you almost certainly had not a clue that the NAACP office in Colorado Springs was bombed last Tuesday since other than two short pieces on MSNBC there was deafening silence from the Media Machine.

Yes, no one was hurt — but I refer you to the thwarted Spokane MLK Day bombing…

NPR also completely ignored this bombing — until a bunch of activists gave them crap about it — and so, on Thursday NPR — good liberal navel gazers that they are — did a piece about how the media was ignoring the bombing in Colorado Springs.

Evidently ‘terrorist’ bombings in the United States are only big news when the victims or potential victims are white.

The Key to the Keystone

Here is how Keystone will probably play out: The Republicans will pass their bill. Obama will veto it. The Republicans will then include it in a rider on another ‘must-pass’ bill. Obama — having bravely taken his token stand and thus having pacified his acolytes with what a wonderful environmentalist he is — will now lament that he must reluctantly sign this ‘must-pass’ bill even with the odious rider and Keystone will go through.

The Republicans made him do it. That was their excuse even when they had the White House and both legislatures, so it should be even more effective now that the arch-evil Republicans are back in control of the House and the Senate.

However: This scenario disregards the aforementioned fact that the Saudi-Rockefeller people are putting the Fracker-Shale Oil-Bush people out of business right now by nuking oil prices to below the point wherein fracking and shale-oil mining are profitable enterprises — and if they stop being profitable enterprises then the frackers and shalers will stop fracking and shaling — and so the whole thing may be moot anyway.

The Thunderbolt is proud to provide yet another example of how the enemy of our enemy is also our enemy.

Evergreen Fascism Foundation

And as if Saudis and frackers weren’t enough, how many of you know that Olympia also has its very own influential right-wing radical political organization? It is called the Evergreen Freedom Foundation [EFF] and they have close ties to the American Legislative Exchange Council [ALEC], which is itself a powerful right-wing propaganda organization that has major influence over large numbers of state and federal legislators.

Since the EFF’s central purpose seems to be making it easier for the 1% to make slaves out of the 99% then I changed their name in the title to this piece to more accurately reflect their actual motivations.

Anyway, EFF has not only purchased a billboard in Olympia, but they purchased that one right next to that infamous anarchist icon, the Artesian Well.

(Where are those anarchist billboard defacers when you need them?)

Go here for more information on EFF and ALEC:

Policy Suggestion

As I have pointed out ad infinitum, the corruption and criminality in our government and financial systems is so deep pervasive systemic and holistic, then if anyone ever started seriously prosecuting these crimes the dominoes would begin falling and the whole house of cards would almost instantly collapse into a massive meltdown even uglier than my mixed metaphors. Our entire economic and political system would fail catastrophically.

I have a suggestion about that. If anyone happens to have the ear of Barack Obama, I would appreciate it if you would pass this policy suggestion on to him: Suggest that he grant a complete blanket amnesty for all war crimes, crimes against humanity, corruption, major financial frauds, and police murders — but along with the announcement of this amnesty also announce that beginning immediately there would be vigourous prosecution of all future instances of all of these crimes.

This would be sort of ‘Truth and Reconciliation’ without the ‘truth’ part — but it’s better than nothing — I think — and I seriously doubt that these guys are ever going to eat any crow regardless, so I say take what we can get.

Anyway, if you happen to have Mr. Obama’s ear, if you could pass that along…

Please forgive me if I don’t hold my breath, though.

It’s time to get to work…

3) Public Hearing on HB 1024 to Defelonize Personal Drug Possession

Friday January 16th at 10 am @ John L. O’Brien House Office Building (Just south of the state capitol building)

If you’ve read more than one or two Thunderbolts then you know what I think of this.

This is from Sensible Washington:

House Bill 1024 (, a proposal to remove felony charges for the personal possession of illegal substances, will be receiving a public hearing in the House Public Safety Committee on January 16th at 10AM. If you support this proposal, please considering coming out to this hearing to make your voice heard!

According to an official fiscal note on defelonizing personal drug possession in Washington State (, House Bill 1024 would save the state millions of dollars each year, would free up prison space and would prevent over 9,000 individuals annually from receiving a devastating felony charge which permanently diminishes their opportunities for housing, work and education. Charges involving distribution or manufacturing drugs, and any charge involving minors, would remain unaltered.

Defelonizing personal drug possession in Washington State is supported by Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, the ACLU of Washington, Students for Sensible Drug Policy and Washington CURE. Legislative supporters include Rep. June Robinson (Assistant Majority Whip), Rep. Luis Moscoso, Rep. Chris Reykdal, Rep. Jim Moeller (Speaker Pro Tempore), Rep. Jessyn Farrell, Rep. Joe Fitzgibbon (Deputy Majority Whip) and Senator Jeannie Kohl-Welles.

The hearing will take place at the John L. O’Brien Building (504, 15th ave SE) in Olympia.

Please e-mail if you have any questions, or if you want to get involved!

4) Film Screening: CitizenFour

January 16th thru January 22nd @ Capitol Theater, 206 5th Ave SE

This is a most-excellent documentary about Edward Snowden.

This is from the OFS:

January 16 – 22

CITIZENFOUR is a real-life thriller, unfolding by the minute, giving audiences unprecedented access to filmmaker Laura Poitras and journalist Glenn Greenwald’s encounters with Edward Snowden in Hong Kong, as he hands over classified documents providing evidence of mass indiscriminate and illegal invasions of privacy by the National Security Agency (NSA). Poitras had already been working on a film about surveillance for two years when Snowden contacted her, using the name “CITIZENFOUR,” in January 2013. He reached out to her because he knew she had long been a target of government surveillance, stopped at airports numerous times, and had refused to be intimidated. When Snowden revealed he was a high-level analyst driven to expose the massive surveillance of Americans by the NSA, Poitras persuaded him to let her film. This film places you in the room with Poitras, Greenwald, and Snowden as they attempt to manage the media storm raging outside, forced to make quick decisions that will impact their lives and all of those around them. Not only does this film show you the dangers of governmental surveillance—it makes you feel them. After seeing the film, you will never think the same way about your phone, email, credit card, web browser, or profile ever again.

Dir: Laura Poitras / US, China, Russia, Germany, Brazil  / 114 min / DCP

SCREENING: FRI 1/16 6:30; SUN 1/18 5:00; MON 1/19 6:30; TUE 1/20 9:00; WED 1/21 4:00 & 9:00; THU 1/22 6:30

Monday January 19th at 11 am @ Darby’s Café, 211 5th Ave SE

This is a big annual event that you really shouldn’t miss. Along with POWER there will be a LOT of people marching on the capitol to demand change. This is educational, exciting, effective, and fun.

This is from Monica:

This is a call to action. On this Martin Luther King, Jr. Day we’re asking you to join in the continuation of his struggle for social justice. While many gather on this day to honor his accomplishments in the civil rights movement, we want to also recognize his dedication to ending the numerous intersecting oppressions that still exist in this country.

We will gather at 11 am at Darby’s Cafe. They are closed but are kind enough to let us use their space.

We will march at noon and hold a speak out at Tivoli Fountain on the Capitol lawn. Small children and people with slower mobility will lead the march to ensure accessibility to everyone. Join us for this kid friendly, collaborative action.

We will be lobbying at the Capitol and doing fun acts across the city to bring attention to our frustration at what Citizens United is doing to this country. Lobbying 101 will happen in the Washington Room from 9.30 am – 11 am, then we will lobby from 11 am – 2 pm, with a debrief at 2 pm.  Be prepared to learn how to lobby and then meet your legislators.

8) Save Antibiotics Campaign Kickoff

Wednesday January 21st at 7 pm @ the Olympia Center, 222 Columbia St NW

This is about the problem of antibiotic-resistant infections resulting from antibiotic-abuse on factory farms.

This is from Victoria:

Save Antibiotics Campaign Kickoff Meeting

January 21st, 7pm

The Olympia Center, Room 101

222 Columbia Street Northwest

Do you care about having a healthy food system? Or are you concerned about factory farms?

We have an opportunity right now to prevent antibiotic resistance.

Currently, 80 percent of antibiotics in the United States are used on factory farms. Livestock producers use these drugs routinely, not to treat sick animals, but for growth promotion and disease prevention, a practice known as sub-therapeutic use. So the next time you or I get sick, antibiotics may not work.

We’re asking our City Council members to pass a resolution asking Senator Patty Murray to sign on as a co-sponsor on the Prevention of Antibiotic Resistance Act (PARA).

So please join us at our kick-off meeting on January 21st at 7pm.  Find out more about the campaign and what you can do to help. With your support, we can get our elected officials to speak up for the preservation of this valuable medical practice.

RSVP here to let us know you can make it, and bring a friend!

9) Bonus Tip of the Week:

Take the tint out of your glasses when you look at the world.
