The Case FOR Segregation

Thunderbolts in your Radio!
Thunderbolts on Your Computer Speakers!

Hey Kids!

Reminder: If you like reading the Thunderbolt then I suspect that you will love listening to it! The audio version of the Thunderbolt airs on KOWA 106.5 FM in downtown Olympia or streaming everywhere in the world at on Fridays mornings at 8 AM and Friday evenings at 7PM and Saturday mornings at 8 AM.

This week, I hurl a virtual barrage of Thunderbolts at the Israelis to the accompaniment of everyone from Ludwig van Beethoven to Yngwie Malmsteen.

The Thunderbolt! It’s politics with a beat!

Just say no to boring news and public affairs programming!

I also make audio CD’s featuring some of my best stuff. CD’s are $5 each if you have it or $1,000 each if you have it or free if you don’t have it but are willing to promise to listen to it.

I was talking to a friend the other day that has joined a Doomsday Facebook group. They are convinced not only that humanity is about to become extinct but all other life forms other than possibly a few bacteria will also soon become things of the past.

(Does ‘time’ exist if no one is there to experience it?)

She mentioned the fact that when the power grids go down then all the nuclear power plants are going to melt down within hours or days at the most.

Even though I already knew that I had never really thought about what it meant before.

She also said that there is about to be a giganourmous methane expulsion into the atmosphere — which I already knew — but she also said that this time the concentrations of methane will be enough to where the atmosphere itself will become flammable and will thus burst into flames as the first step in turning the Earth into a Venus-like planet that will then boil away in perpetuity…

I criticize people all the time for refusing to acknowledge uncomfortable facts.

I am finding myself highly reluctant to investigate this ‘atmosphere burning’ contention.

I am reluctant to investigate because I am afraid that it might be true…

Official Thunderbolt Question of the Week:

So, here is the Official Thunderbolt Question of the Week:

How much shite can happen on the head of a pin?

(Hint: Don’t forget to factor dancing angels into your calculation!)

Official Thunderbolt Irony of the Week!

House Repuglycants have figured out a great way to challenge what more than one of them has called a ‘tyrant’…

…the best way to challenge a tyrant is to file a civil suit!

[Cheers, applause, wild yelling, exuberant exaltation, etc.]

Inured to Outrage

I am beginning to think that Israel’s strategy is to conduct so many outrageous war crimes that people become inured to them. For instance: They have now bombed seven UN schools that were sheltering refugees. They used the excuse of a ‘kidnapped soldier’ (that it turns out was actually killed) as an excuse to level Rafah, Olympia’s sister city in Gaza.

Rafah is the home of Anees Mansour, the amazing Palestinian youth who stayed at Media Island for a couple of months last fall.

Rafah was also where the Israelis murdered Rachel Corrie.

The Israelis have completely isolated Rafah from from the rest of Gaza and many fear that this means they are preparing to conduct yet another major massacre of civilians.

Israeli attacks have been completely wiping out large families on a regular basis, often killing ten and twenty people at a time including numerous women and children. Israel has been credibly accused by several journalists now of intentionally targeting women and children. The UN relief agency is considering halting their practice of informing the Israelis of the locations of UN refugee centers because it seems as if the Israelis are using this information to target the schools where the civilian refugees are congregating…

Democracy Now daily lists all the outrages if you wish to keep up with them.

The Case FOR Segregation!

Developers in New York are constructing high rises that have separate entrances for their ‘regular’ residents and their subsidized ‘low income’ residents. The ‘subsidized’ residents even have their very own floors in the building and their separate elevators will only go to these separate floors.

Many controversial and inflammatory comparisons come immediately to mind — but the developers wish to assure the public that this is not supposed to remind ANYONE of ANYTHING!!!

I’m surprised the Olympia City Council didn’t try to get these guys to do the development of the Artesian Well…

…actually — maybe they did!

Anyway, everyone is outraged.

So was I…

…at least, I was outraged until I read Dr. Wes Browning’s column in Real Change last week wherein he states, “Rich people ruin my life. Please don’t make me use the same facilities they use.”

And after I thought about it, I found myself in total agreement! Why should us good honest regular folks who have things like love and morals and true friends in our lives be exposed to such lowlife scum as rich people who have none of these things? Why should our children be forced to attend school with some rich brat whose father had to see a psychiatrist for three years before he could hug his son? Why should I have to be exposed to some ignorant arrogant sociopathic human-mutant hybrid that makes his living ruining people’s lives? After all, through their alter-ego incarnations as corporations (now designated as legal ‘people’ completely separate from the actual humans that make up the corporation — and with very ‘special’ rights that us mere human humans do not have that are also completely separate from the rights of all the individual actual humans that make up the corporation) the fact is that these rich people steal several million dollars for every dollar that is stolen by us yet 2.4-million of us are in prison while they represent only a token few sacrificial goats in the prison system. AIG alone received more government welfare cash-for-nothing than every welfare mother in the country combined in 2008 — yet it is we who are demonized and it is our budgets that are cut? The innocent are being punished while the guilty just continue to enjoy ever-increasing record profits? I spend six years in prison over a pot charge while some corporate CEO steals millions, and in the few instances where they are actually prosecuted it is not the CEO but the stockholders of the corporation that pay some token fine representing a small fraction of what they stole — NO ONE EVER GOES TO JAIL — and the thief himself suffers no consequences of any kind except a massive bonus check at the end of the year?

Or take a Sunday drive around a large American city sometime: In the ‘poor’ parts of town you will see people everywhere hanging out, socializing, walking, and doing what actual humans have been doing with each other for millennia. In the ‘rich’ parts of town, on the other hand, you will see only walls and gates and thick hedges. If you are lucky you may see an occasional jogger.

And the real rich neighborhoods — you will need to negotiate a guarded gate to get anywhere near them…

Are these the kind of values that we want to teach to our children? Should I have taught my daughter to be afraid of people and to build thick walls and hire guards because you so fear the world? Should I have told my daughter, “In order to make it to the top in Crony Corporate Capitalist World, my beautiful child, you will need to forget everything they taught you in kindergarten about playing fair and sharing and being nice and about not slicing people’s throats open! Instead, you will need to develop a level of ambition indicating serious psychological derangement, you will need a willingness to sell your soul to the devil, and, of course, you will need willingness to mass-murder women and children for profit!”

These people are the opposite of everything that actual humans should be.

And so, once again the Thunderbolt flies into the face of accepted wisdom and dares tread where no one else dares to tread!

(No one except Dr. Wes at Real Change, anyway…)

Hell yeah!

I would suggest that we lock them up in prison-like conditions under strict security behind several layers of locked doors and surrounded with walls and armed guards just to make sure they stay away from us — but they already do this to themselves, so we don’t even need to bother.

Yes, yes, I know that we’ve spent many centuries now trying to stop persecution of people based upon social class, and I know that the truly enlightened person will see the humanity of even rich people. The wise person will look below all the murder and stealing and lying and cheating and see the true lost soul that lay underneath — WAY underneath — and the truly advanced human would be able to manage this without vomiting.

Who knows what hurdles and challenges rich people must face in their insulated little bubble-worlds? Maybe that man who just sold a bunch of fighter jets to that brutal dictator is suffering from PTSD because his mother didn’t breast-feed him or something!

Show some humanity why don’t cha?

…but tell me…

…has there ever been a social class that so deserves to be shunned and mocked?

Evolutionary Dead End?

Seriously though, I have riffed often about the super-cell shite-storms that sociopaths daily wreak upon the rest of humanity. I have also mentioned before that I have seen incontrovertible evidence that at least some of the people who murder children for a living still love their own children. I have previously mentioned that this fact has caused many a brain-explosion on my part trying to understand how someone could love their own children yet mass-murder other people’s children for a living. I think that figuring that out is very important, in fact.

I also think that I may be honing in on this: I recently mentioned that I had a Mensa-level genius uncle who was also a mass-murderer and that he once asked me if I ever worried about him killing me. The people that my uncle killed were invariably either people that ripped him off on drug deals or cops who tried to arrest him. I didn’t plan on ripping him off or arresting him — but even more important, I was family, and while I didn’t know my uncle all that well (he spent most of his adult life in the California prison system) I knew that messing with family was something beyond the pale even for him. When my uncle said Family, the word was capitalized. Thus, when he asked if I worried about him killing me, I replied that if he killed anyone I seriously doubted that it would be me, so that no, I wasn’t really all that worried about it.

I am now thinking that this ‘ability’ to dehumanize people who aren’t in your ‘family’ or ‘tribe’ may be an even more insidious danger than true sociopaths because these ‘partial sociopaths’ (and yes, I just made that term up) are perhaps even more able to effectively don the ‘masque of sanity’ that sociopaths often wear to hide the fact they have no human compassion.

Consider: For the vast majority of our evolution it was our tribe against the world. There was some cooperation between tribes and sometimes there were even alliances wherein one tribe would come to the assistance of the other in emergencies — and according to recent findings, some of us were evidently even getting a little Neanderthal action on the side — but overall, our tribe was our world. If someone got sick there was no one but our tribe’s medicine man or woman. If there was a natural disaster there was no government to bail anyone out; our tribe was on our own.

I am thinking that this love-your-family-kill-your-neighbor form of brain-wiring may be yet another leftover from the old tribal us-versus-the-rest-of-the-world days and that it may represent another evolutionary adaptation that maybe we could stand to lose right about now. I not only think that we don’t need it anymore but I think that it now serves as a major hindrance to our attaining the next rung upon our evolutionary ladder…

…and I’d be a lot more comfortable if we had already been sitting on that rung a few decades ago…

Official Thunderbolt Understatement of the Week

Yes, after a bruising competition amongst some truly talented contenders, the Thunderbolt now proudly announces the winner of this week’s Understatement of the Week Contest:

“Our society has some problems.”
—Barack Obama

[Cheers, applause, wild yelling, exuberant exaltation, etc.]

Have You Been Kissed Today?

Although the acronym ‘KST’ could be pronounced ‘kissed’ — if you are designated as a ‘KST’ then the only thing you can kiss is your ass and your freedom goodbye…

‘KST’ is the government acronym for a ‘Known or Suspected Terrorist’.

In other words, if the government has ‘KST’ you then you are truly ‘F*#>ed’.

In addition, it is possible to be ‘KST’ because your phone number popped up on the wrong phone. One can be arbitrarily placed there by someone who simply doesn’t like them. You can be designated as a representative of a terrorist organization even if you are not affiliated with that terrorist organization. Once designated, then your KST can secretly be used in court proceedings. It can prevent you from getting employment. It can prevent you from flying commercial aircraft. Your presence on this list is a secret. There is no known way to be effectively removed from this list once placed there.

We know all this because Jeremy Scahill and Ryan Devereaux of the Intercept are on the case! Yippee!

According to the documents they just revealed our government is sharing this information, including designating its own citizens as known or suspected terrorists, with foreign states, with private entities, and private contractors — but they are not sharing any details of what amounts to a parallel shadow legal system — a system where we are not allowed to even know the rules.

And it doesn’t even work — at least as far as achieving its stated purpose. (The unstated purposes are another matter…) Members of the watch-listing community themselves are evidently complaining that they’re drowning in information; the NSA keeps dumping more haystacks all over their needles.

This is a criticism that has evidently been voiced again and again for many years now.

And you may remember I pointed out recently that USAID — an organization that supposedly exists to distribute American ‘foreign aid’ — was basically a front organization for American intelligence agencies?

This from Jeremy Scahill: “USAID is part of the system feeding intelligence back to entities like the CIA, the NSA and others, that have to do with their grants that are supposedly about promoting democracy — you know, USAID has a long history of working as a front for the CIA, of course, but, you know, this part of it wasn’t known. And USAID confirmed to us that they do in fact participate in this program.”

And Mr. Devereaux had this to say about John Brennan: “One of the greatest, unelected, non-Senate-confirmed power grabs in recent American history was enacted by John Brennan. John Brennan — when Obama was first elected, he wanted Brennan to be the CIA director. And some Democrats actually had a spine back then and said, you know, ‘Because of his involvement in the Bush torture apparatus and some of his positions on torture and other things, we’re going to hold up that nomination.’ So they created a post specifically for John Brennan, so that he could effectively serve as the czar in charge of all of these policies, when it came to counterterrorism, homeland security and others, and basically was running the show. He became, you know, the drone kingpin and all of these things. This position was created essentially by John Brennan for John Brennan.”

Why Governments Lie and Spy

One of many reasons that government officials lie so much is that once they tell a lie — especially in these days of the media usually simply parroting their lie without scrutiny — then not only is a major effort required to prove it is a lie, but then you need to have people pay attention to the fact that it is a lie even if you do prove it.

Most people just keep on believing the lie.

For instance: The ACLU and Human Rights Watch were required to spend several years and Odin knows how much money to conduct a major study to prove the blatantly obvious: Government surveillance is proving a major detriment to the ability of journalists and defense attorneys to function.

Wow. Shock, gasp.

I will further explain the obvious: That is the very purpose of government surveillance. Our government is currently engaged in a war on journalists and defense attorneys, in fact, and government surveillance acts as a great check on everyone who may say anything that disturbs any of the wrong people.

Shock! Gasp! The Media is Spinning the Ukraine!

Amy Goodman interviewed Katrina Vanden Heuvel on Thursday, July 24th in a piece pointing out the skew of the coverage of the Ukraine in the Media Machine.

I love how unlike some of us minour media people — and also unlike those good ole’ boys on the right side of the media — the Big Boys and Girls on the left side of the Major Media always soooo understate things!

For instance, this quote from Ms. Vanden Heuvel: “I think Americans have been done a disservice by the one-sided coverage of the Ukraine Crisis.”

Really? I would have put it in a little stronger terms — but yes! I also think Americans have been done a disservice by the one-sided coverage of the Ukraine Crisis! (To put it mildly…)

This also from Ms. Vanden Heuvel:

“The U.S. role—I don’t understand the U.S. role, to be honest. I mean, it is not in the national security interest of the United States to make Ukraine a Cold War proxy, but it is becoming that. This is a regional civil war that has been internationalized. John Kerry often sounds like he’s the secretary of war, not the secretary of state.”

I couldn’t agree more!

This is a most excellent interview and it has thus earned the Official Thunderbolt Interview Endorsement along with a suggestion that you check it out:

Snowden Strikes Again!

Saudi Arabia is one of the most repressive countries in the world. Americans don’t know this because Saudi Arabia is also one of our closest allies and thus get a pass from the American press.

Edward Snowden has just revealed through the Intercept that the NSA has recently greatly expanded its cooperation with the Saudi Interior Ministry, which is the ministry directly tasked with oppressing Saudis — which they do with great vigour and efficiency. One secret 2007 NSA memo lists Saudi Arabia as one of four countries where the U.S. “has [an] interest in regime continuity.”

An ‘interest in regime continuity’?

How fortunate for the Saudis.

Apologies — or Not

The United States is demanding that Russia apologize for the shooting down of the airliner over the Ukraine even though Russia has not admitted to having anything to do with it and even though there is no proof that Russia had anything to do with it.

In 1988 an American ship called the USS Vincennes shot down an Iranian passenger airliner that was flying over Iranian waters. All 290 on board — including 66 children and 16 crew — died.

The United States fairly quickly admitted that the USS Vincennes had shot down the airliner.

Iran is still waiting for their apology 26 years later.

For many years black people were not allowed into public swimming pools. They also have traditionally had far less access to any kind of swimming lessons. As a result black children are half as likely to know how to swim as white children are and they are three times as likely to drown.

It’s time to get to work…

The Thunderbolt Calendar
Week of August 7th thru August 13th 2014

1) FYI Section:

1A) Update on West Central Park Project

From Alicia:

Another busy week at the Park with lots getting done. The Park was very lucky to have ten volunteers from City Reach descend all at once last Tuesday to absolutely tear into the back fence line to prepare for a new orchard and a new fence. Thanks to Pastor Patrick Pulley, WSECU employee also, who brought West Central Park to the program’s attention. These volunteers from all around the country LOVED the project and really enjoyed the difference they made at the Park. Go by when you have a chance and see the beautiful new seven fruit trees planted along the east side of the alley. There are two Green Gage Plums on the outside, two Italian Prunes inside those, two Red Gold Pears inside those and then a nice stout Granny Smith. All of the new trees are semi-dwarf and will be kept just under the 18 foot electrical wire above them. Prepare to munch! Thank you City Reach and Patrick Pulley!

Our movie nights were so very fun! The Park Board would really like to find another way to put more movies on. The Board will be seeking a grant from the Community Foundation this fall and perhaps we can start a community movie fund soon! Unfortunately most all movies are controlled by copyright laws, and any public showing by a non profit or profit group of a movie costs on average 200 dollars. Let us know if you get a brainstorm of how to create a tax deductible movie fund, and we will let the films roll all summer long.

Come down to the Park tomorrow, Sunday from 10 to 1. There is always a work party and lately lots of delicious food coming from the garden beds too. Bring your gloves and we will provide the rest. The work that gets done on Sunday is the way the Park stays maintained and looking nice. Work Parties are also a great way to meet board members and neighbors and share stories. Hope to see you there!

Reminder: Art and Music Splash, August 16th! 11-5

See you at the Park!

1B) Heron Rookery or Condominiums?

We have a Blue Heron rookery on the Westside with 15-20 nests. The city wants to bulldoze it to build condominiums. They notified the public by conducting a public meeting that no one knew about and posting a sign at the end of a small dead-end road that no one drives on.

In spite of their efforts, though, the public is now learning what they are doing.

This battle is ongoing and I will post more info soon.

From Daniel:

Senior Herman,

I am seeking your advice, and wish I was messaging you with better news, so I will cut right to the chase as I believe time is of the essence. Forgive me in advance for the length of this email, but I assure you it is necessary, and I want to give you the full picture.

I am currently living on the westside of Olympia 3 doors down from the westside food co-op, and recently discovered a great blue heron rookery not much more than a block away from my house. It is specifcally at the dead end of Dickinson street in some woods that have not been developed (yet). There are roughly 15 nests, and a rather active colony. It is very easy to walk by foot beyond the dead end on a footpath into the woods, and be under the heron’s nests in 30 seconds or less. Also the forest is verdant, the trees are quite tall, and it is clearly an indispensable pocket of wilderness and safe haven for many plants and animals, which are surrounded by neighborhoods, apartments and roads.

The reason I am seeking you out, is this.

I recently discovered a big yellow sign posted down the dead end, stating PUBLIC NOTICE, Land Development Application (I attached a photo)

On the sign was information of a building proposal to build town-home housing, and the phone number of City of Olympia’s Cari Hornbein, a supposed planner for their Community Planning and Development sector.

I then proceeded to follow up and contact her seeking more information, and after leaving her email and phone messages, I eventually received a rather terse email with 3 attachments just showing the building plan drawings. (I also attached these)
Now, I have asked around, and some friends said that they walked down the trail the other day, and there were already workmen cutting down trees at the forest edge, and they were informed by the worker that “If they don’t like it, they should take it up at the community talk.”

I’m not sure when exactly this supposed “community talk” took place, but it sounds like the opportunity has since passed. Also, judging by what I have heard and experienced so far in my attempts to get more information, I have a strong feeling that the great majority of nearby community members who would have things to say about this construction were not present, as the sign itself was posted well off the beaten path. I have also gotten the impression from others that this isn’t the first project that has been hushed and rushed through the development process in Olympia in the favor of business.

Regardless, having walked through the woods, and comparing notes with the plans, it appears that they are planning on extending the dead end to be the main road to these proposed housing structures. This road plan is literally paved right over where the trees and nests are. I can also say with full confidence that the construction of the buildings and parking garages, tree cutting, road laying, and increased human traffic and activity will absolutely drive the herons out (and do significant damage to the other less charismatic biota in the area) Especially during the breeding season.

As it is now, I would even say the simple trail leading under the nests probably brings more joggers, dog walkers and human activity than there should be. I have no idea who “owns” this land, and there appear to be no posted regulations, so I assume it is all privately owned. It seems apparent that this forest and the colony of herons might not be on the map in the eyes of those who could protect them.

Honestly, I am left feeling pretty overwhelmed and am at a bit of a loss when confronted with this situation, and wish I had a better lay of the land when it comes to protection policies, relevant advocates or groups who should know or could do something, and effective venues of communication to get these issues on the radar. I also have the strong sense that not a lot of people know that this is happening, and that if the details where more in the light and if given the option, the majority would vote down or intervene with the proposal to build apartments and roads in this area.

At this point, I am reaching out to you Dr. Herman.

I am seeking advice on how I might proceed in passing this information on to relevant people, and I believe that you might have resources that I currently don’t to possibly illuminate this situation more. As I said above, I am very unaware of the laws and agencies, or how these situations can be managed effectively, and I know well that you have more insight here.

As of today, I attempted to contact Cari Hornbein again at Community Planning and Development, only to hear an automatic message saying that she will be out of town until June 18th, which is vexing because it sounds like there may be the beginnings of tree cutting as of yesterday. I’m not sure her office will be the most effective avenue to address this situation, but I will at least continue to seek more information from others in their agency.

I am also going to cc this email to some of the other good minds that you and I know well, with an invitation for anyone to respond or pass along this email/information to others that might have ideas or the resources to affect this situation. I am attempting to avoid getting overwhelmed by taking this on alone in a vacuum, and so I thank you all for reading this email.

I can see that these herons make up a bulk of the ones that the community is able to stop and watch in the downtown area, and I can also personally speak to the particular beauty of this patch of undeveloped land and the mature trees throughout.

Thanks for hearing,
Stephen Bylsma

2) Glow in the Dark Mushroom Workshop at Fertile Grounds
Thursday August 7th from 6 to 8 PM @ Fertile Grounds, 311 9th Ave SE

Shrooms are a magical thing! Become a fungus-head!

From Ava:

Join the Olympia Mycelial Network on Thursday August 7th at Fertile Grounds. We’ll be installing some glow in the dark pathways! Using panellus stipticus, a bioluminescent fungi, we will beautify our local commons by creating glowing pathway with the cultivation of one of our partners in remediation. Panellus stipticus is not known to be tasty, but does have some beneficial remediative characteristics.

We’ll do an edible mushroom installation to follow. As part of the workshop we’ll spread a bunker bag with myceliated wood chips to make an edible fungal garden patch of Elm Oyster, and inoculate some alder logs with panellus stipticus plugs.

Thursday August 7th 6:00-8:00pm

Please join us! We are currently meeting once/month.
We will be planning events to increase awareness of our movement and to educate our friends and neighbors about what we can do to reclaim our democracy. It IS possible and we ARE going to do it. Our group is open to all political beliefs, because this is about all Americans–not just conservatives or progressives or moderates, but all of us: WE, THE PEOPLE. We must work together to get money out of politics and return to a government “of the people, by the people, for the people.”

We are also members of the state organization WAmend (Washington Move to Amend):

Some of the other organizations that are working toward a similar goal to overturn Citizens United include — and we welcome members of these groups to join us: WAmend, Wolf-PAC, Public Citizen, People for the American Way, Sum of Us, Represent.US, Free Speech for People, StampStampede…
We the People, NOT We the Corporations
On January 21, 2010, with its ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the Supreme Court ruled that corporations are persons, entitled by the U.S. Constitution to buy elections and run our government. Human beings are people; corporations are legal fictions.
We, the People of the United States of America, reject the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Citizens United and other related cases, and move to amend our Constitution to firmly establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights. ( )

“The Story of Citizens United v. FEC”
WATCH and share this short video (under 9 min.) which explores:
>the inordinate power that corporations exercise in our democracy,
>the history of the American corporation and corporate political spending,
> the appropriate roles of citizens and for-profit corporations in a democracy, and
> the toxic impact the “Citizens United” Supreme Court decision is having on our political process.
It ends with a call to amend the U.S. Constitution to confirm that people—not corporations—make the decisions in a democracy.

From Janet:

Hey, folks!

I want to let you know about an opportunity to accomplish three worthwhile goals in one evening:

Tom Nogler and Rick Fellows are hosting a potluck meal and presentation on August 8th. Mmmmm, potluck!

The event will feature a presentation by Paul Ortiz and Sheila Payne, about the work people are doing in Gainesville, Fla. to empower farmworkers. These folks are the real deal, and it should be awfully interesting.

And to top it all off, the evening will be a benefit for Chris Stearns’s campaign for re-election as PUD Commissioner. Chris was a strong supporter of the campaign for Public Power here in Thurston County, and you can bet that the anti-Public Power crowd is gunning for him. Let’s show him our appreciation for the work he’s done for the PUD!

The event will be on Friday, Aug. 8th (next Friday!), at 7:00pm, at Tom and Rick’s house, at 1325 10th Ave. SE, in Olympia.

I look forward to seeing you there!

7) Solar Workshop in Chehalis
Saturday August 9th in Chehalis, WA

This is slightly out-of-town but folks down there need to hear about this stuff more than folks around here.

From Mike:

Hi friends,

We have a solar workshop set for Saturday in Chehalis. One thing we are discussing is the challenges and opportunities for private-public-cooperative partnerships with development and installation of solar electric arrays. Current financial/legal status makes this a little challenging in WA State, but a quick look at this article posted from Envirotalk indicates that NH legislated to allow group net metering. I know we can’t get any meaningful legislation out of the lesser Washington back east, but here in the real WA we might be able to persuade the state legislature to consider changes that would increase our options to create local power infrastucture.

Would love to see some Oly faces at the Matrix on Saturday. Carpool if you can. Food for purchase from Matrix kitchen.

M & I are also doing extinction event at Traditions on Wed, Aug 13th at 7 pm. Come and celebrate the great extinction.
Potluck at Traditions. We don’t want to go extinct hungry, right?
